🪙 The Beginning of Knowledge — Proverbs 1:7 and Bitcoin

A few weeks ago, something unusual happened. I was driving through town, minding my own business, when I saw a license plate that read PRVBS17. It took me a second, but I quickly decoded it: Proverbs 1:7. That one stuck with me.
We’ve all had those moments—divine taps on the shoulder, little nudges that call us to pause and reflect. This was one of them. I pulled over, opened my Bible app, and read the verse again. I’ve heard it many times before, but on that day, it hit different. Maybe it’s because I’ve been thinking a lot about wisdom, about truth, about what it means to live rightly in a world that often feels upside down.
And maybe—just maybe—it hit me because I’ve also been thinking about Bitcoin.
📖 Proverbs and Proof-of-Work
The Book of Proverbs is a masterclass in timeless wisdom. It speaks of diligence over laziness, integrity over deception, long-term thinking over short-term gratification. And it all begins, says Solomon, with the “fear of the Lord”—a recognition that we are not the center of the universe, that there is an eternal order, and that wisdom starts by aligning ourselves with it.
Now, let’s take a moment to reflect on Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is more than just digital money. It’s a system grounded in truth, time, and discipline. It doesn't promise easy riches or shortcuts. It demands patience, proof-of-work, and an understanding that you must plant before you reap. In a way, Bitcoin is a financial system that operates on Proverbs-level wisdom.
To opt into Bitcoin is to reject the foolishness of inflationary fiat money—a system built on debt, manipulation, and centralized control. It is to choose discipline over indulgence, savings over spending, and truth over expediency.
💡 The Beginning of Knowledge
"Fear of the Lord" in biblical terms isn't just terror—it's reverence. It's the awareness that truth exists outside of ourselves. Bitcoiners understand this intuitively. We don't control the supply. We don't beg central banks for favors. We submit to a protocol that operates with incorruptible transparency.
In this way, the fear of the Lord is not unlike the respect we have for the mathematical certainty of Bitcoin. You can’t cheat the system. You can’t inflate it. You can only align yourself with it—or be left behind. It's humbling. And humility, as it turns out, is the gateway to wisdom.
Just like the fool in Proverbs despises instruction, many despise Bitcoin because they don’t understand it—and worse, they don’t want to. It challenges their assumptions. It forces them to reckon with a world built on lies. Wisdom calls out in the streets, but most walk by with earbuds in, choosing comfort over conviction.

That license plate was more than a random sighting. It reminded me that wisdom is not found in noise, in media narratives, or in political soundbites. It starts in quiet reverence—and it grows through study, community, and discipline.
Bitcoin teaches many of the same lessons. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s not a trendy tech stock. It’s a tool of liberation—but only for those who are willing to listen, to learn, and to wait. Sound money, like sound wisdom, doesn’t scream. It whispers.
And it waits for those with ears to hear.

We live in a culture that despises instruction. We reward those who shout the loudest, spend the fastest, and virtue-signal the hardest. But in the stillness, there’s another way.
